Sapphire Optical Windows – More durable than glass

Now offering sapphire windows in volume.

Sapphire is an excellent material of choice when durability and broadband transmission from the UV to Mid IR are required. The material is commonly used in critical environments where abrasion resistance and extreme pressures and temperatures are encountered such as defense and aerospace applications, exposure to chemicals as the uncoated sapphire is chemically inert as well medical applications where safety is of the utmost concern. Sapphire’s excellent thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion allow it to dissipate heat quickly while maintaining form in high temperature environments.

Sydor Optics manufactures custom sapphire windows using a specialized, high speed, double-sided grinding and polishing process. We can process multiple parts in a group quickly making this cost effective when compared to processing one surface at a time. Currently we are capable of producing over 2,000 sapphire windows per month.

We offer both CNC machining and double-sided grinding/polishing services to produce custom parts that are to spec, to budget and on time.
